1 INTRODUCTION
Cortex daphnes is a traditional Chinese medicine which comes from the dried root and stem bark of Daphne giraldii Nitsche, Daphne retusa Hemsl., or Daphne tangutica Maxim. It has been used clinically to treat rheumatism and other similar diseases and it is an effective analgesics. [1, 2] Cortex daphnes extracts contain several classes of natural products including coumarins, diterpenoids, lignans, flavonoids, anthraquinones and sterols and particular attention has been paid to the coumarins because of their extensive biological activity. Daphnin, daphnetin-8-O-β-D-glucoside and daphnetin [3] are the three index components of coumarins.
