ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Land surface temperature is an important parameter to measure the surface energy balance, and it is one of the basic contents of remote sensing inversion. Compared with ETM+, TIRS sensor has two thermal infrared bands. For these two thermal infrared bands, on the basis of the thermal radiance transfer equation, simplification of Planck function is made for TIRS bands 10 and 11, respectively, derived Landsat-8 TIRS split window algorithm which can be utilized to retrieve land surface temperature, and using Qin’s monowindow algorithm, the land surface temperature of Hohhot city was retrieved. The results showed that both methods can better reflect surface temperature distribution of study area. The surface temperature of TIRS bands 10 and 11 average error which used mono-split window algorithm is 0.36 K. The land surface temperature of split-window algorithm is generally lower, compared with land surface temperature of TIRS bands 10 and 11, and there is a difference of approximately 0.59 K and 0.95 K, respectively. The land surface temperature is 3 K-5 K generally higher than the brightness temperature.
