ABSTRACT

Eutrophication can break the ecological balance of the water, thus threaten the regional environment security, which makes it a serious constraint to the sustainable socio-economic development. Eutrophication can generally be viewed as an undesirable degradation of the environment resulting in a deterioration of water quality which interferes with most of the beneficial uses of waters; it is causing, in many cases, significant economic losses (OECD, 1982). High-efficient and accurate assessment of eutrophication risks is of great importance for eutrophication risk control and regional water environment safety, especially with severe polluting situation in developing nations.
