ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT: Most risks caused by natural disasters change with time. Time characteristic is very important for us to study a natural disaster risk. Based on the dynamics of natural disaster risk, this paper proposes that its time characteristic includes the time resolution which is the length of time of risk, and the period of validity which is the time risk could be seen as unchanged in some degree. What’s more, the paper points out that the time resolution is determined by the rhythm of both risk sources and risk bearing bodies. Meanwhile, the factors causing the changes of risk are discussed and the method of determining the period of validity through the identification of mutations is also briefly introduced. This study provides new ideas for natural disaster risk analysis and lays a foundation for further study on time characteristic of natural disaster risk.
