ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: This paper proposes the basic requirements for determining the maximum reduced explosion pressure, and specifies a method for evaluating the effectiveness of suppressant. Laboratory-scale tests were performed to determine and assess the effectiveness of powder aerosol-inhibitor (20l-sphere) on the explosion in gas-air and super fine powder suppressant mixtures. Some relevant influencing parameters were illustrated and discussed, such as ignition delay time, ultra-fine cold aerosol concentration, rate of pressure rise and value of the explosion index. Moreover, it is shown that the process of prevention and suppression of the explosion has a threshold character. The results of this research are meaningful for quantifying the applicability of suppressant.
