ABSTRACT

Since the aircraft system constructions become more and more complex and advanced, requirement for their safety is much stricter than ever before [1]. Safety is one of the inherent characteristics of aircraft [2]. It is generally measured by parameters such as accident ratio, mean time between accidents (MTBAs), loss ratio as well as safety reliability and is characterized by accident occurrence. For example, the requirement of full scale level safety of a new type of aircraft of China under demonstration phase is stated as the probability of catastrophic accident resulted from aircraft should be lower than 10-7/FH [2]. However, since the occurrence of accident is a very small probability event, it is extremely dicult for safety assessment and verification. How to choose scientific, measurable, and demonstrable safety measurement parameters and establish corresponding numerical calculation model is fundamental for safety demonstration, assessment, and verification and is especially important for aircraft owners.
