ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: A cable stayed bridge over the Labe River in the town of Cˇelákovice is the first structure in the Czech Republic, where ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) was used in a load carrying structure. The UHPC was developed from local materials. The self-compacting UHPC was delivered as ready-mixed concrete. The material itself and important structural details were verified experimentally. The segments 11.3 m long were assembled by cantilever method using a special launching gantry. The footbridge is a lightweight structure with long durability and low requirements on maintenance.
