ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT: In 1996, Acciona Ingeniería designed a section of the highway from Querúas to Otur. The possibility that it could become a dual carriageway was considered. It was designed so it could be easily widened in order to increase its capacity. The same principle was applied to all the structures in that section of the highway. Among them, there are two singular ones: San Timoteo and Canero viaducts, a record in Spain’s push launched bridges because of the length of its spans. In 2003, Acciona Ingeniería co-designed the widening of that section of the highway, carrying out the happy foresight decided years ago.
