ABSTRACT
On conventional microscopy, lipomas appear well circumscribed and non-encapsulated.
• Majority of sporadic cases. • Few pedigrees described (autosomal domi-
nant?). • The causative gene is unknown.
• It is assumed to be a discrete malfunction in fat metabolism resulting from damage to mitochondrial DNA.
