When the lung is the target of therapy, aerosols may reduce side eects by decreasing systemic delivery,3 and lower dosing may be possible by avoiding gastrointestinal exposure.2 is also allows for use of higher local drug concentrations with less risk for systemic toxicity.4 Finally, by avoiding the delays associated with gastrointestinal absorption, eects of the drug oen occur more rapidly.
