ABSTRACT

Cystic brosis (CF) is a multiorgan, multisystem disease. Some manifestations are due to epithelial cystic brosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) dysfunction in individual organs and some result from the systemic inammatory response to chronic airway infection. ere are also treatment-related complications such as aminoglycoside-induced acute and chronic kidney disease (CKD). ese multisystem complications have considerable impact on quality of life, morbidity, and mortality and have become an important concern as patients with CF are living longer.1,2 In this chapter, several multisystem complications are discussed, including vasculitis and dermatological problems; arthropathies; renal disease; electrolyte abnormalities; and neurological, hematological, ocular, and oral health issues together with deafness and vestibular dysfunction.
