ABSTRACT

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) is a road map for the development of robust products. It seeks to avoid manufacturing/ service process problems by using advanced voice of the customer techniques and proper systems engineering techniques to avoid process problems at the outset (i.e., fire prevention) (Creveling et al., 2003). These techniques also include tools and processes to predict, model, and simulate the product delivery system, as well as the analysis of the developing system life cycle itself to ensure customer satisfaction with the proposed system design solution (Cudney et al., 2013). DFSS addresses the voice of the customer (VOC) and the voice of the product or processes (VOP) (Cudney, 2009). It consists of five interconnected phases: define, measure, analyze, design, and verify.
