ABSTRACT
One of the challenges that modern agriculture has to face is improving cropping systems and soil management strategies in order to remove signifi cant amounts of CO2 from the atmosphere (Chabbi and Rumpel, 2009) and promote the conservation of water resources. The amount of C loss and input, in a specifi c agrosystem, will determine its direction to sustainability or degradation.
