ABSTRACT

Clinical aspect: The lesions may be observed on the vulvar skin, the pubis, the lower abdomen, the perineum, and the buttocks. They are often multiple, of a few millimeters in diameter and appear as skin-colored or waxy, smooth, rounded, dome-shaped papules with a typical central depression containing a keratotic plug that may be easily expressed using forceps (Figures 7.1.1 through 7.1.3). Sometimes, giant lesions reaching 1 or 2 cm in diameter may be observed. They are asymptomatic, but may occasionally cause irritation and be surrounded by an area of erythema. Dome-shaped papules with prominent central depression: molluscum contagiosum. https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9780429160967/163b7f5e-cc4b-49c3-bdf2-114d4fa08aec/content/fig7_1_1.jpg" xmlns:xlink="https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"/> Multiple skin-colored, smooth and waxy papules: molluscum contagiosum. https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9780429160967/163b7f5e-cc4b-49c3-bdf2-114d4fa08aec/content/fig7_1_2.jpg" xmlns:xlink="https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"/> Extensive vulvo-perineal involvement in long-standing molluscum contagiosum. https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9780429160967/163b7f5e-cc4b-49c3-bdf2-114d4fa08aec/content/fig7_1_3.jpg" xmlns:xlink="https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"/>
