ABSTRACT

Coal fired plant typically burn pulverised fuel (coal), where coal is pulverised, mixed with air, and pneumatically conveyed to the furnace burners. Accurate flow rate measurement is essential to eciency of combustion and vital for reducing greenhouse gas and pollution. However due to complex flow regimes (profiles) and non-ideal characteristics of sensors, the accurate measurement of such flow has yet to be achieved. This paper discusses one of problems regarding the characteristics of electrostatic sensors, which is their “spatial sensitivity”.
