ABSTRACT
In regards to GIS, the thermal effect on the sealing performance of rubber O-rings is supposed as a main factor of degradation because they are contained in the lid groove of the GIS. While uniform degradation of cross-sections of O-rings has been applied to estimate their thermal degradation using Arrhenius plots, the estimated compression sets of O-rings have been larger than the actual compression sets of O-rings removed from real equipment.
