The Culture Collection DPUA has been established at the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM), Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil. In 1974, its activities began with the implementation of the Medical Mycology subject. At this time, the fungi were preserved only under refrigeration. From 1987, the collection was restructured, expanded and was opened on December 5, 1988. Currently, the collection has 1566 cultures preserved under mineral oil, Castellani method and silica gel.
