ABSTRACT

Many indications, from socio-economic to technological, point out that the chemical industry is moving to a new development cycle. This is characterized by global structural changes in the economy with a crucial reorganisation of the energy and resource infrastructure, in which the switch to renewable energies and sustainable issues is largely influencing the market and industrial objectives. [1,2a] The efficiency and use of renewable resources and energy, particularly in geographical regions poor of natural resources such as Europe, is becoming a driving element for competiveness and strategies in the chemical and process industry. The use of alternative “green/sustainable and renewable” resources such as biomass and

solar energy for the development of new solutions to produce raw materials and energy vectors is thus becoming an industrial priority.
