The main objective in integrated solid waste management (ISWM) [1,2] is to implement technologies that reduce the environmental pressure by recovering both the fractions with a considerable value on the market and the non-traditional ones (e.g., organic [3,4,5,6,7,8], medical [9,10,11], automotive shredder residues [12], WEEE [13]). Moreover, any good management system also includes the involvement of the people, who have to be aware of the environmental benefits and of the reduced danger to health that results from a correct behavior [14,15]. Such an objective is highlighted by European Union (EU) legislation, which produced several Directives on waste disposal, treatment and incineration [16,17,18,19].
