ABSTRACT

Recently, many industrial applications use the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) due to its high efficiency, high torque density and compactness, such as pump, air conditioning, escalator, washing machine etc. However, PMSM needs a high-resolution and expensive encoder for position information to achieve its performance. As a result, many researchers proposed sensorless control for PMSM to get equivalent performance. Two kinds of sensorless control methods are more popular, fundamental model based method and saliency based method. Fundamental model based methods are such as back-emf observer and flux linkage observer. Meanwhile, the saliency-based methods consist of continuous signal injection and transient voltage vector injection.
