ABSTRACT
Along with the high-speed development of national economy and the improvement of living condition, the material life of people are satisfied and they start to enrich themselves and pursue spiritual life. A large number of sculptures begin to emerge at the indoor and outdoor area, bringing new development opportunities for sculpture manufacturing enterprises virtually. Fujian locates in the southeastern part of China, which is one of the areas which have the highest concentration of carving industry, such as Dehua Porcelain, Hui’an Stone Carvings, Putian Wood Carvings, Xianyou Precious Furniture, bringing an output value of nearly RMB one hundred billion Yuan and employment opportunities for more than 2 million workers. The big development gives rise to a serious problem generally confronted by sculpture enterprises, that is, training for manual technicians requires a long time, and at least ten years is needed to train a skilled senior technician. Compared with the large amount of production orders for sculpture enterprises, carving technicians appear to be insufficient and of relatively high mobility, so practical difficulties are distinctly confronted by sculpture enterprises. However, the production and technology problems of carving artworks can be properly solved via taking full advantage of digital technology.
