ABSTRACT
Destructive interference effects in single-molecule transport have
attracted attention in recent years as a way to introduce a range of
electronic functionalities into molecular electronics. In this chapter,
we provide an introduction to this area and addressmay of the topics
that constitute background information for understanding recent
publications. We discuss why interference effects might be useful,
their experimental and theoretical signatures, the range of chemical
systems they occur in, and possible applications.
