ABSTRACT

In radar systems, synthetic high-resolution range profiles (HRRPs) can be obtained by using stepped-frequency waveforms (SFWs) [1,2]. SFW consists of a few chirp signals which has same narrow bandwidth and continuous frequency, which has advantages of both synthetic wide bandwidth and moment narrow bandwidth. The frequency signal needs lower bandwidth of the radar receivers and A/D sampling rate, so it has been applied comprehensively. However, range profile shift, peak reduction, and point spread function (PSF)  spreading are produced by target radial velocity, especially for a space target that has a higher speed. Motion compensation is necessary in this situation.
