ABSTRACT

Introduction We have discussed previously some of the hormones involved in the metabolic regulation of carbohydrates, fat and protein (Chapters 3 through 5). We will now review this information in more detail, looking at the adaptations to exercise, training and fasting, and specically at the inuence of the intermittent fasting of Ramadan and its disturbances of meal times and sleep patterns upon mean values and circadian variations in hormone levels.
