ABSTRACT

Landfill is the most common means in disposing municipal solid waste, especially in developing countries. Both ordinary wastes and harmful wastesmunicipal solid waste, most of household wastes and some harmful wastes from industries-are all utilized as organic materials. Such materials can be decomposed by specialized bacteria under suitable anaerobic digestion conditions during disposal of landfill, which can successfully generate useful landfill gas to benefit human. The condition of landfill is neither warm nor wet, so the process is much slower. And the end product (the landfill gas) is a mixture which is consisted mainly of the gases of CH4 and CH2.
