ABSTRACT
Ultra wide band (UWB) is an example of an underlay network (i.e. it operates at a very low power across a wide frequency range, ‘underneath’ other radio technologies). The theory is that because its signals are transient and have little energy, they do not cause interference to the existing users of the spectrum, and therefore should allow spectrum to be efficiently reused.
