ABSTRACT

In automotive systems, advances in sensor technologies and related areas have as the main objective to support and provide applications with a better management and control efficiency of vehicles. The key aspect for this is to adopt sensor data fusion strategies when there is a wide range of different sensors and data formats that need to be related and consider the pattern recognition algorithms. Sensor data fusion plays an important role in current and future vehicular systems, as the sensors can remain connected with the environment in which they are inserted. For the automotive domain, sensors are essential and important components of innovations in automobiles that use electronic control systems. The original equipment manufacturer (OEM) automotive companies can integrate more intelligent vehicles, making them able to provide functionalities of autonomous cars. Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are developed to automate, adapt, or enhance vehicle systems for safety and better driving.
