ABSTRACT

It is the opinion that, when it is possible to perform seakeeping calculations during the study of station-keeping performances, the final combined prediction could give better information to naval designers regarding the effective capability of the vessel during operations or storm condition. Once motions criteria could be provided for the above mentioned conditions, it is possible to convert those numbers into relative wind speed to be used in DP capability plots to establish the effective environmental condition for operation or survival condition by considering a constant current speed.
