ABSTRACT

Seborrheic dermatitis is a common inammatory skin condition of unclear etiology that affects approximately 1%–3% of the general U.S. population.1,2 It has a bimodal distribution, with peak incidences occurring during infancy and then later in adulthood. Oily skin, or seborrhea, is a condition caused by excessive sebum production that commonly begins in the prepubescent years. It is often, but not always, seen concurrently with seborrheic dermatitis.
