ABSTRACT

Unsaturated granular soils involved in flow-like landslides (Cascini et al., 2010, 2013) require specific experimental tests to assess the role of several distinct hydromechanical coupled processes. Among those, one can mention the pore water pressure build-up upon shearing in contractive soils, the so-called volumetric collapse upon wetting and the increase of the shear strain rate once any soil mechanical instability behaviour incepts.
