ABSTRACT

The objective of this study was the determination of the dynamic properties of volcanic soil (pumice) through a series of tests carried out at the Laboratory of Soil Mechanics, Foundations and Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. A Long-Tor resonant column apparatus and a cyclic triaxial apparatus were used to cover a wide range of shear strain amplitudes, including both torsional excitation at resonance of the samples and frequency-controlled experiments at a desired number of loading cycles.
