ABSTRACT

WHAT DO RELATIONSHIPS LOOK LIKE? Functional relationships are typically characterized by one entity acting on or in uencing another. us they grammatically follow a standard pattern: Entity (noun) does something to (verb) another entity (noun). e core of the relationship-the word that identies its type-is the verb. Our rst job in relationship extraction is to identify these verbs and classify them into domain-specic types that are meaningful for our objectives.
