ABSTRACT

Durability under conditions of aggressive environment is among one of the major problems of concrete structures. Concrete structures rapidly deteriorate under such conditions due to poor design requirements, mistakes made during the performance of works, and lack of structure maintenance. One of the most common forms of concrete structure repairs pertains to the procedure of removing damaged or contaminated concrete, as well as to its reshaping with repair mortars or concretes. The investigation programme is designed to present the performance of repair on horizontal surfaces through trial works on models, such as for example on bridge concrete slabs which have been damaged and in which case the contaminated protective layer needs to be removed and the pavement slab reshaped by applying the repair system procedure. To asses properties of underlying concrete and repair material properties following methods were used: compressive strength, static modulus of elasticity and optical microscope analysis.
