ABSTRACT

In view of long term maintenance of its infrastructure facilities the Dutch Highway Administration (Rijkswaterstaat) has repaired over 1.500 heads of prestressed beams in 30 bridges and provided them with Cathodic Protection (CP). The heads of these beams showed moderate to severe concrete damage due to reinforcement corrosion caused by the penetration of chlorides from leaking joints, which required adequate intervention on the short term.
