ABSTRACT

A good adhesion between old concrete and repair material plays an important role in the success of repair work for aged concrete structures. However, the prediction of this bond strength is very difficult because concrete is a highly complex heterogeneous material. Up till now, although there are many test methods to estimate the shear bond strength between old and new concrete, their results are relatively different. In this paper, an experimental and theoretical study were performed to evaluate the shear bond strength of the interface between concrete substrate and repair material in 5 types of test method, namely, Direct Shear Test (DST), Push-Off Test (POT), Bi-Surfaces Shear test (BSST), Slant Shear Test (SST) and Punching Shear Test (POT) (Fig. 1).
