ABSTRACT
A short history of GPR and the main applications are described in this Chapter. The basic principles of GPR are also introduced, as well as the theory and fundamentals that govern the propagation of the GPR waves. Also the interaction of the electromagnetic pulses with the materials is examined. Finally, a review of the different operating modes for data acquisition is included. Some inconveniences to data interpretation and additional tools to assist the interpretation process are also described.
