ABSTRACT

Mobile LiDAR systems have been extensively used during recent years in road management. They allow obtaining a productive and accurate form the road geometry. One of the main limitations of the technology is the huge amount of computational resources required for the data processing. This manuscript shows a comparison between different software solutions used for the management of LiDAR data. The different solutions under study are the SITEGI software based on the point cloud library (PCL), AutoCAD Civil 3D, VRMesh, and QTModeler. The SITEGI software shows better results in terms of loading time of the point clouds and CPU usage, being reliable during all the testing process.
