ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Wave damping is a common phenomenon as wave propagation over porous medium. Base on Dean and Dalrymple’s theoretical results, the study of wave propagation over rigid, porous bottom is further carried out. First, a simple and efficient method is proposed to solve the dispersion relationship and the solutions are validated by the perturbation method. Then, some two-dimensional numerical simulations are performed and discussed to investigate the damping properties. The results indicate that a more obvious wave damping will occur in a gravel seabed and shallow water than in a coarse/fine sand seabed and deep water.
