ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The authors mean to provide experimental evidence of the danger that the cohesive bonding may be released by microseisms, and to quantize the amplitude/frequency danger range for monogranular agglomerates. Such danger may be of particular interest in all those cases where the foundations of buildings are exposed to prolonged uniform vibrations (traffic, reciprocating machinery, etc...). The mathematical model used in this work is the trispherical one, whose theoretical bases are analyzed in previously works in which a well-know model good for cohesionless monogranular materials is considered: it is provided with inter-central elasto-plastic braces simulating, in harmony with the physical behavior, the cohesive brace.
