ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The CO2 adsorption capacity was dramatically enhanced by aggrandizing the acid site via introduction of Zr atom into the Disordered Mesoporous Silica (DMS) after loading amine. The physicochemical and adsorption properties of the adsorbents were characterized by XRD, TEM, UV-vis spectrophotometer, FTIR and N2 adsorption-desorption techniques. The highest CO2 uptake (4.55 mmol CO2/g-adsorbent) was obtained for Zr(0.05)- DMS-TRPN-AN in the flow of 90% CO2. Consecutive 15 adsorption-desorption runs revealed that the Zr(0.05)-DMS-TRPN-AN showed only a tiny decrease in adsorption capacity (from 1.775 to 1.758 mmol CO2/g-adsorbent), providing thermal durability and adsorbent longevity.
