ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Sight distance is one of the key factors of safe traffic movement at intersections. One of the most common reasons of accidents at intersections is insufficient sight distance. This paper maps the development of sight distance assessment at intersections from the first mention in Czech technical standards till today. It is targeting changes in sight triangles definition also as changes in sight obstacle definition or speed and longitude slope consideration. Comparison of standards shows that safety requirements for sight distances at intersections are lowering in time.
