ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: In order to understand the main chemical constituents, such as amino acids and trace elements of Clinacanthus nutans, the leaves of C. Nutans were analyzed in this research. The results showed that the content of protein, crude fiber, moisture, fat, vitamin C, and vitamin B1 in the leaves of C. Nutans were 5.73%, 2.71%, 78.3%, 0.5%, 1.57, and 0.27 mg/100 g respectively. Compared with the common vegetables, such as lettuce, the C. Nutans have more protein. The value of EAA/TAA and EAA/NEAA both met the FAO/ WHO standards. In addition, the C. Nutans are a good source of zinc and iron. Thus, we conclude that the C. Nutans is a kind of wild vegetable, which has a high nutritional value and medicinal value.
