ABSTRACT

With the development of global urbanization, newly built or long-existing cities have witnessed accelerated building construction and decreasing ground space available for new structures. It urges people to utilize underground space so as to meet the public needs, for instance, the demand for music. In North America, Europe and PacificAsia, regions with high economic growth, several underground concert halls were built. In Blaibach, Germany, a concrete concert hall with granite facade was built beneath the village square to revitalize the city center. In the USA, a cavernous hall named Steinert Hall was constructed in 1896 in downtown Boston, which was once being considered as the headquarters for the musical world of cultured Boston. In Shanghai, which is the economic and financial center in the mainland of China, the world’s largest and deepest underground theater with a large number of seats was built in Shanghai Culture Square.
