ABSTRACT
Few papers are on weathering rate of the surrounding rock of underground caverns.
Furthermore, the existing publications about rock weathering rates are mainly obtained from the rock structures in arid zones, semi-arid areas and coastal areas under natural, as well as polluted environment conditions (Dragovich, 1986; Roeckens and VanGriecken, 1989; Pentecost, 1991; Inkpen and Jackson, 2000; Robinson and Williams, 2000; Duperret et al., 2005). Many factors such as insolation, wind and rain are considered for quantifying the weathering rates. Weathered rock objects with relatively single environmental factor and known time factor are not easily to be encountered.
