ABSTRACT

Since the discovery of the Longyou Grottos in 1992, its inner exotic design has been attracting countless experts and scholars to study and investigate them. Caverns No. 4 and No. 5 are relatively close together in the Longyou Grottos. There is a partition wall between the two caverns. The overall stability of the caverns is closely related to the stability of the partition wall. In 2000, Yang Zhi-fa, et al. pointed out that “The wall developed in cavern No. 1 to No. 5 will be affected by weathering. Considering the partition wall between the caverns with the characteristics of thinner and higher but lower strength, the deformation and destruction of the partition of caverns is possible under certain conditions. It may show the impellers and inner drum and local instability.”
