ABSTRACT
China South Industries Group Corporation (CSGC) is the giant SOE incorporated with the approval from the State Council, the investment institution, and assets management entity and one of the most vigorous civil-military giant industries. In 1999, when CSGC was incorporated, its operating income was only RMB 21 billion yuan with close to RMB 2 billion yuan, and it was known as one of the most struggling enterprises in the national defense industry. In 2013, CSGC annual sales revenue hit RMB 36 billion yuan with more than 10 billion in profits, ranking fifth among China’s Top 500 manufacturers, 22nd among China’s Top 500, and 209th among the World’s Top 500, marking its elevation to the most influential civil-military giant group worldwide. In this amazing change, a package of management innovation and reform, as represented by manufacturing management reform, has played an irreplaceable role.
