Consequently, effective treatment is absolutely critical to avoid the development of resistance during treatment. Inadequate infection control in hospitals and the lack of effective public health measures to control infections in the community are factors that are contributing to this problem, particularly in developing country settings where the burden of infection is high and the choices for therapy are limited.
