ABSTRACT

Although lung transplantation was first successfully applied as a strategy for end-stage lung disease in 1983, bilateral lung transplantation was not introduced until the late 1980s. Since then, the ideal operative approach has continued to evolve. 1–3 In this chapter the technical pearls of bilateral sequential lung transplantation are outlined, and additional details directed toward avoiding of pitfalls are provided along with lessons that we have learned over time.
