ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT: FR-DOMt was a type of effective filler for improving the mechanical and flame-retardant properties of EPDM composites. The experimental results revealed that incorporation of 1-15 phr of FR-DOMt into pure EPDM could change T10 and T90 of these composites. At loading of 3-5 phr of FR-DOMt, the tensile strength was improved from 10.5 to 12.0 MPa and elongation at break from 427 to 523%. Meanwhile, the abrasion loss of EPDM/FR-DOMt-1 was 0.32 cm3, decreased 9% in comparison with that of pure EPDM, 0.35 cm3. In addition, with the addition of 1 phr of FR-DOMt into EPDM system, the vertical burning time was increased from 250 s to 370 s.
