ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: With the development and improvement of China’s electric power system, a huge UHV AC and DC hybrid intelligent grid gradually formed. But the security and stability of this large power grid also faces enormous challenges. Wide area measurement system can monitor and analyze the operating state of the power system in dimensions of both time and space. Therefore, it is quite necessary to study WAMS technology. Begin with the structure and principles of WAMS, the paper researches the development in the past five years of WAMS in power system dynamic monitoring and fault analysis, identification and estimation, system stability control, and examines in detail the existing problems. At the end o, the paper mentions the further study issues of the wide area measurement techniques.
